P-Noy names new Napocor president
MANILA, Philippines - President Aquino has appointed an energy executive and a Liberal Party stalwart as the new head of National Power Corp. (Napocor).
Ma. Gladys Cruz-Sta. Rita replaces Froilan Tampinco, who resigned for “personal reasons†effective July 31, in the state-owned power agency.
Sta. Rita, a former director of Philippine National Oil Company (PNOC) and chairperson of its subsidiary PNOC Development and Management Corporation (PDMC), is also a former director general of the Liberal Party of the Philippines.
Sta. Rita studied at the University of the Philippines School of Economics, both for her undergraduate and graduate degree courses, according to a statement issued by Napocor yesterday.
She completed a Certificate Program for Senior Executives at the John F. Kennedy School of Government in Harvard University. She also completed a master’s degree in Public Administration at La Consolacion University of the Philippines.
Prior to her stint in the energy sector, Sta. Rita served as Bulacan provincial administrator for 17 years and worked as a consultant at the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
