Lenovo aims for market leadership

MANILA, Philippines - Lenovo, which aims to maintain its top position in terms of global  sales of personal computers (PCs), also intends to become the market  leader in the Philippines as it plans to offer products that suit the Filipino’s mobile lifestyle.

Lenovo Philippines country general manager Vicky Agorrilla told  reporters yesterday that as the firm wants to remain the top selling PC brand in the global market, they also want to be the No. one brand in the Philippines.

“It is a goal for Lenovo to be No. one (in the Philippines),” she said.

Lenovo is currently among the top three bestselling brands in the Philippines, with its double-digit market share.

Citing recent surveys of research firms Gartner and IDC, Agorrilla said Lenovo accounted for the largest share or 16.7 percent of global PC sales in the second quarter.

To become the leader in the Philippine market, she said the firm intends to employ the same strategies which helped it reach the top spot in the global market.

“We will still follow the three strategies: innovation, PC plus and new category,” she said.

She noted that through innovation, the company has managed to come up with products which cater to the different needs of enterprises and    consumers.

She said the firm’s sales to both enterprises and consumers are doing well as the brand is seen to be of good quality and as it has  products to cater to the different segments of the market.

Agorrilla said the firm would continue to introduce products that suit  the different needs of the market.
