Maynilad allots P230 M for Cavite pipe project

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - West Zone concessionaire Maynilad Water Services, Inc. is spending P230 million to lay primary and secondary pipes in Bacoor City in Cavite this year.

Around  6.5 kilometers of primary lines and 12 kilometers of secondary pipes would be laid along portions of Molino Road, Avenida-Rizal Road and Soldiers Hills Subdivision.

Once completed, 8,500 households who currently source their supply from deep wells and private water tankers rom the current five hours.

The infrastructure investment will also improve water  pressure for some 263 households in the area from 15 pounds per square inch (psi) to 16 psi.

Pipe-laying will only be done from 10 pm to 4 am to mitigate the impact on vehicular traffic.

The work sites will likewise be fully enclosed by board-up barricades, with appropriate lighting and traffic/warning signs.

â€œWe are committed to serving unconnected communities in our concession area, especially those who get their water supply from expensive and unsafe sources. Right now, over one million people in the West Zone still do not have access to our services and we are doing everything we can to promptly address this situation,” said Maynilad president and CEO Ricky P. Vargas.

This year, Maynilad will invest approximately P7.63 billion to improve and extend water and wastewater services in the South of Metro Manila.

Around P4 billion has been earmarked for wastewater management projects in the south, such as the building of Sewage Treatment Plants in Pasay and Muntinlupa, and conveyance systems in Muntinlupa and Parañaque.
