Haulers have own code

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - More than just sit behind the wheel and deliver goods to pre-determined destinations, trucks drivers a.k.a. haulers, also have the responsibility of helping reduce road accidents and maintain smooth traffic flow. Thus, the Cement Manufacturers’ Association of the Philippines (CeMAP) is set to hold its 2nd Annual Haulers Conference this coming July at the SMX Convention Center to inculcate a Code of Accountability among truck drivers as one of the stakeholders in the cement industry. This year’s conference theme is “Road Safety: Our Shared Accountability.” The event gathers together major cement industry players, concerned government officials, and executives and drivers of hauling companies to discuss road safety issues and develop solutions to reduce road accidents involving cement haulers. Health and safety is a major priority among CeMAP members,” said CeMAP president, Ernesto Ordoñez. “It is important that this commitment is channeled to other stakeholders especially contracted haulers.” This year’s meeting aims to underscore the value of accountability to help improve the driver’s behavior. One of the most important goals of the conference is to establish a consensus among haulers to adhere to the “Code of Accountability.
