Ford sales up 63% in April

Louella Desiderio - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Sales of Ford Philippines rose 63 percent year-on-year in April, driven by the strong demand for its vehicle models.

In a statement yesterday, the company said it sold 1,101 vehicles in April, more than the 677 units in the same month last year.

Ford Philippines attributed its higher sales performance in April to the market’s reception of its vehicle models.

“Our full Ford line-up of cars, trucks and SUVs (sports utility vehicles) is appealing to a wide range of customers, and the recent launch of our range-topping Ranger Wildtrak and upgraded Explorer have really added to our momentum,”Ford Philippines outgoing president Randy Krieger said.

“Customers are appreciating the unmatched value that our Ford vehicles deliver – from the smart technology, to our focus on fuel efficiency, quality and safety – which is supported by our ongoing commitment to provide the very best customer experience,” he said further.

For the January to April period, the firm saw its sales jump 82 percent to 3,786 units from a year ago.

Given the continued increase in sales across the product line-up, the company intends to continue to enhance customer experience from an even wider network of nationwide coverage.

Ford Philippines said it is on track to open five new full sales and service outlets by June to bring its dealership network to 35 by the end of the year.

The five new dealerships will be located in Naga, Bohol, Butuan, Ilocos Norte and Manila Bay.

Last week, Ford Motor Co. announced that it has named Kay Hart as new managing director of Ford Philippines.

Hart will replace Krieger who has been appointed director of marketing and sales for Ford ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations).

Hart’s appointment will take effect on June 1.
