Risk management confab opens tommorow

MANILA, Philippines - How companies could defend their operations against state-sponsored cyber warriors and the cyber underworld who could cause severe downtimes, denial of service, or theft of customer information will be discussed by professional experts on April 17 and 18  in the risk management conference PROTECT VIII: Doing business amidst new threats.

These experts were brought together by Leverage International in cooperation with the Armed Forces of the Philippines to share best practices and their insights with the private sector during the 8th conference series of PROTECT at the Hotel Intercontinental Makati.

Strengthening and developing strategies to reduce security risks of information technology systems and promoting public-private partnerships against espionage and online scams are among the expected results of PROTECT VIII.

The conference program covers “The Overall Threat Landscape” by Maria Ressa, CEO and Exec. Editor of Rappler, “New Schemes in Identity Theft and Counterfeit Crimes” by a panel of experts from Europe led by Enrico Rampinelli, Chairman of Zetos Swiss Forensic, “Security Risks in the Computer World” by Amit Jain, Lead Solution Architect of Trustwave, Johan Segergren, Country Manager of Google Enterprise, Angel Redoble, President and CEO of ARMCI Solutions, Tim Scyner, Regional Director of Sykes Asia, Stella Tse, Managing Director, Marsh Asia, and Freddy Tan, Chairman of (ISC)2 and National Security Strategist, Microsoft.

A session on the latest trends in emergency management includes Ganesh Ramakrishnan, managing director, ILink systems, Steve Sayell, CEO Pan Risk Control (HK), John Walker, principal of ARC, Col. Dennis Acop, past chairman of ASIS International, Philippine chapter, Roy Antonio, corporate affairs manager of Sagittarius Mines, Paul Ingram, Senior Consultant of Genric Holdings and Dr. Maria Lourdes Santiago, OIC for Drug Regulation and Research of FDA.

Dr. Alfredo Mahar Francisco Lagmay of the Nat’l Institute of Geological Services will discuss the “New Normal” and DOST’s Project NOAH. The latest government advances towards national preparedness level will be presented by IPOPHIL Executive Director Ricardo Blancaflor, DOJ Asst. Sec.
