IBM tops server market in Phl

MANILA, Philippines -- IBM has become the largest server vendor in the Philippines based on its overall server revenue market share in the fourth quarter of 2012, according to research company IDC.

IBM also led the Southeast Asian server market with 38 percent revenue share in the fourth quarter of 2012. 

In the Philippines, IBM was ranked number one with 38.7-percent revenue market share in the last three months of 2012.

Ireen Catane, Country Executive for Systems and Technology Group, IBM Philippines, said IBM continues its focus on Smarter Computing systems that support an agile, smarter enterprise that can unlock the value of data, improve data center efficiency, and simplify an organization’s IT experience. 

"In the local market, wherein many clients have embraced the Smarter Computing approach, resulting to an increased demand for cloud, data and security ready enterprise systems that only IBM can deliver,” Catane said.

IBM reported many Southeast Asian companies and institutions have embraced its Smarter Computing to fuel innovation-based growth and competitiveness.

Launched in 2011, IBM's Southeast Asian clients use the smart computing approach to IT to adapt to and capitalize on new trends that have emerged through the growth of mobile, social and online technologies.

Throughout 2012,  companies and institutions from different industries and size took advantage of IBM's Smarter Computing approach to IT. 

Among the companies and institutions that bought IBM's server are Bank Ekonomi Raharja and Sunan Kalijaga Islamic State University (UIN)  in Yogyakarta from Indonesia; Rizal Commercial Banking Corp. (RCBC) and The PR Savings Bank from the Philippines, Nim See Seng Leasing from Thailand, Ho Chi Minh City University of IT, Orient & Commercial Bank (OCB) from Vietnam, and DynaFront Systems from Malaysia.
