Dentsu Network sets up Myanmar branch office

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Dentsu Asia Pte. Ltd., the wholly owned subsidiary of Dentsu Inc. that oversees operations in the ASEAN and Oceania region, has established a branch office in Yangon, Republic of the Union of Myanmar, a country of 62 million people and one of the new growth markets in Asia.

Dick van Motman, chairman and CEO of Dentsu Network Asia said: “Since I joined Dentsu in October last year, we’ve been reviewing our operations including the locations where we should be active but aren’t. Myanmar with its recent positive development popped out as an obvious choice, not least because our clients are moving into there aggressively. Like them we see the opportunity that Myanmar represents and are looking to bring our unique Dentsu portfolio of capabilities and play our part in the development of that market.”

Running the local office will be Hardy Yang who will act as the branch manager of Dentsu Asia Myanmar.  He was born in Myanmar, grew up in Taiwan, graduated from Takushoku University in Japan and previously worked in Taiwan and Singapore, with Dentsu.

“Returning to the country where I was born and raised and contributing to the growth of my country has been my dream for a long time.  I would like to utilize all of my experience and the unique Dentsu Network combination of services, stretching from media, content, technology and advertising to help our clients and Myanmar,” said Yang.

In view of the 27th South East Asia Games (SEA Games) which will be held in Myanmar this year, Dentsu Sports Asia, located in Singapore, have already commenced work for this event. With the addition of Dentsu Myanmar they will be able to provide a wider range of services.
