PAL revs up recruitment

MANILA, Philippines - Dozens of successful cabin crew applicants in Philippine Airlines (PAL) started formal training this month, as the flag carrier steps up its recruitment efforts in Mindanao.

The aspiring cabin attendants are currently undergoing intense training at the SMC Training Center in Tagaytay City after hurdling PAL’s rigid screening process, including a personal review by PAL president Ramon S. Ang.

Meanwhile, the flag carrier will continue its job fair -- this time in Davao and Cagayan de Oro cities -- to recruit pilots and cabin crew who possess natural Filipino charm.

A team from PAL Human Resources will be at the Royal Mandaya Hotel in Davao City on March 1-2, and at the Seda Hotel Centrio in Cagayan de Oro on March 8-9, to accept applications from local residents and neighboring towns and provinces.

PAL is recruiting additional cabin crew to boost its roster of flight attendants in line with the airline’s refleeting program. Last year, PAL ordered more than 60 jets from Airbus. PAL undertook crew recruitment in Manila, Cebu, Dumaguete, Bacolod and Iloilo.

Requirements for cabin crew are:        

Filipino citizen, not more than 27 years old; college graduate who can speak both English and Filipino. Female applicants must be single, at least 5’3”. Male applicants, preferably single, at least 5’6”. All applicants must have good visual impact and pleasing personality, weight proportionate to height, clear complexion, a good set of teeth, with 20/20 vision, or with contact lenses but not beyond 20/30.

PAL will also accept applications for pilot trainees at the recruitment venues.
