Rudy Santos - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Skyjet Airlines, a new budget-but-full-service airline, launched yesterday its maiden flight to Busuanga.

Skyjet CEO Joel Mendoza said three flights a week will serve the municipalities of Busuanga and Coron, Palawan. A flight will leave Manila Terminal 4 at 9:20 a.m. every Monday, Wednesday and Friday arriving Busuanga at around 10 a.m. of the same day. The return flights leave at 11:20 a.m. and arriving in Manila at 12:05 noon.

The airline has an initial fleet of two 94-seater, four-engine BAE 146-200 jets that are specifically made for short landings and takeoffs and designed to operate even in unpaved runways.

He noted a big demand for a full service carrier with affordable fares without sacrificing seating comfort, space, and enhanced meal, beverage, in-flight entertainment and full staff service.

Our fares are competitive and our airline offers no hidden charges, no additional charges for seats, free snacks for short haul trip, affordable rates and more cargo space with free five kilos on hand carried luggage’s and 10 kilos for accompanied luggage.

“We focus on safety,” Mendoza said. “Our aircraft can operate in the most challenging runways and weather conditions in the Philippines as certified by the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP).”

Starting April2, 2013 Skyjet will mount thrice weekly flights to Virac, Catanduanes – Tuesday, Thursdays and Saturdays.

Mendoza said another aircraft is expected to arrive next week as we intend to charter passengers from Batanes to Kaoshiung, Taiwan and vice versa.
