MANILA, Philippines - Thai firms are in the country to look for business opportunities.
The Thai Trade Center said yesterday that 23 Thai companies are in the country to establish business relationships with local firms.
The Thai firms are set to meet with local companies and present their profiles at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Cebu City today.
The firms are engaged in the manufacture of construction materials, agricultural machinery and tools, automotive parts as well as electrical appliances.
“The business matching aims to showcase various and leading Thai products,†the Thai Trade Center said.
The business matching session was organized by the Department of International Trade Promotions of Bangkok with the Thai Trade Center in Manila.
Thailand’s Ambassador to the Philippines Prasas Prasasvinitchai said in an interview the business matching session was organized to further strengthen ties between the two countries.
“We hope to establish business relationships between Thai companies and local companies,†he said.
Earlier this week, Spanish firms and Turkish companies were in the country to scout for business opportunities.
The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) said earlier the country had a total of 487 business corporation visits in the January to October period last year, 56.6 percent higher than in the same period in 2011.
For the 10-month period, the country also had 34 multi-company business delegations, more than the 18 for the whole of 2011.
A multi-company business delegation involves the visit of five or more companies or businessmen at the same time to look for opportunities.
For this year, the DTI said the number of business missions are seen to continue to increase amid numerous queries being received from foreign firms.
