Laguna Water doubles service connection

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Laguna Water, a water utilities company formed through a joint venture agreement between the province of Laguna and East Zone water concessionaire Manila Water Company Inc., yesterday announced that it has doubled the number of service connections in its concession area since starting in 2009 and has successfully added large commercial establishments among its customers.

In a statement, the company said that from  only 17,000 connections when it started in 2009, it now services 38,000 customers with key businesses in Laguna like SM Sta. Rosa, Robinson’s Sta. Rosa, Pavilion Mall, and Mount Sinai Hospital.

For several years, these establishments ran their own water systems.

“Being entrusted to supply water to these business establishments is a testament to the trust given by the business sector on the reliability of Laguna Water as a service provider,” said Laguna Water’s general manager Melvin Tan.

Laguna Water used to serve only residential customers and medium-sized commercial accounts due to the limited supply of water. The company said that because of continuing investment in improving water sourcing, network efficiency, and customer care, it was able to cater to customers of varying tastes and volume requirements in 2012.

To improve its services, Laguna Water has also laid out other initiatives.

Now in place are its own DOH-accredited laboratory, a 24/7 call center, and tie-ups with payment facilities like Bayad Center, Metrobank and SM payment center.

Laguna Water said it aims to capture the remaining 70 percent of the population in its concession area that are still getting water from other sources in the next couple of years.
