BDO opens rep office in Singapore

Donnabelle L. Gatdula - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - BDO Unibank Inc. (BDO), the main banking arm of the SM Group of retail tycoon Henry Sy Sr., is further expanding its presence abroad with the establishment of a representative office in Singapore.

In a statement, BDO said the Singapore branch would boost its relations with companies doing business in one of Asia’s most booming economies.

“Conveniently situated at the newly constructed One Raffles Place, the representative office is seen to promote the bank in Singapore’s financial community,” it said.

BDO also said it would also act as a point of contact for Singaporean companies interested in the Philippine market and, conversely, Philippine companies looking to penetrate Singapore.

Thus, the opening of the Singapore representative office is expected to enhance relationships further and find ways to better serve and work alongside Singaporean firms, living up to BDO’s service-oriented culture.

BDO already has remittance offices in Asia (Hong Kong, Macau); Europe (Germany, Italy) and the US.

Aside from the new branch in Singapore, the bank has representative offices in Taiwan, France and Israel.

It also has desk offices in Middle East particularly in Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Jordan, Oman, Qatar, Bahrain and Kuwait.

BDO also has remittance partners in Australia, Brunei, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, New Zealand, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Saipan, Singapore, Taiwan, Austria, Belgium, Cyprus, Greece, Ireland, Israel, Italy, France, Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Switzerland and United Kingdom.
