MANILA, Philippines - Robinsons Land Corp. is doubling the size of its mall in Ilocos Norte to include the construction of a Go Hotel as part of efforts to capitalize on the booming tourism industry in the area.
RLC general manager for commercial centers division Arlene G. Magtibay said the two-level expansion mall will add some 35,415 square meters in gross floor area and 16,000 sqm in gross leasable area.
RLC commissioned world-renowned RTKL to design the expansion mall, which is scheduled for ground-breaking on Dec. 18.
“We are building an expansion mall to accommodate strong demand for more commercial space,” Magtibay said.
“We had approached Ilocos Norte cautiously in the past, aware that Ilocanos are famous for being frugal. But we were pleasantly surprised that the mall has performed quite well and our customers are themselves the ones encouraging us to expand the mall,” Magtibay added.
The ground floor of the expansion mall will be occupied by restaurants, popular retail stores as well as an activity and events area. The second floor will house anchor tenants Robinsons Appliances, Handyman, two additional cinemas and service and retail establishments.
To ensure the convenience of car-riding patrons, the expansion will have a four-level podium parking connecting to the mall which will provide 622 parking slots.
Aside from the mall, RLC has extensive horizontal developments in the Ilocos region including Brighton Park Place, Brighton Park Place North and Hanalei Heights which is home to Ilocano retirees and overseas Filipino workers.
