Insular Life wealth series products achieve triple-digit growth

MANILA, Philippines - Leading insurer Insular Life announced that its peso denominated Wealth Series funds attained triple growth rates at their closing last Dec. 3, 2012. The company’s variable unit-linked insurance Wealth Series products attained all-time high Net Asset Value Per Unit (NAVPU) rates, it said in a statement.

The Equity Fund recorded a 272.15- percent yield, the Fixed Income Fund achieved a 74.85-percent return, and the Balanced Fund reached 148.32-percent return since their inception in March 2005. The Growth Fund, which is a little over a year and eight months since inception, realized a 39.15-percent return.

“This performance is another indication of the value that our policyholders get from a company with more than 100 years of experience in financial protection and investments, and which seriously upholds its fiduciary role of providing prudent and competent fund management,” Insular Life chairman and chief executive officer Vicente R. Ayllon said.

The notable performance of these funds benefits Insular Life’s Wealth Builder, Variable Returns Asset and Wealth Secure policyholders. Wealth Builder and Variable Returns Asset are peso-denominated, investment-linked insurance products requiring a single premium payment. Their yields depend on the growth of the policyholder’s chosen fund. Part of the investment amount covers insurance protection embedded in the product so that if anything unforeseen happens to the insured, the beneficiaries will get 125 percent of the premium or the fund value, whichever is higher.

Wealth Secure, on the other hand, is a regular pay peso-denominated, investment linked insurance product.  Similar to Wealth Builder, yields depend on the chosen fund elected by the policyholder. Wealth Secure offers more flexible terms to policyholders, including the options to increase or decrease insurance coverage and premium over time.

“The need to preserve the real value of one’s funds against inflation is a matter that each individual should seriously consider. With the historical returns of our Wealth Series funds, policyholders can have peace of mind that their money’s worth is not losing value.” Ayllon added.
