MANILA, Philippines - TV5 has partnered with telecoms leader PLDT and its mobile subsidiaries, Smart Communications Inc. and Sun Cellular, to bring to its viewers a comprehensive and interactive coverage of the 2013 mid-term elections.
“We are pleased to work together once again with our Kapatid – the PLDT Group – for an extensive and exciting coverage of the upcoming elections,” said TV5 president Ray Espinosa.
“Our extensive fixed and mobile networks – the largest in the country – and our innovative communications solutions will help TV5 gather and report the most accurate and latest news on the coming polls on a timely basis,” said PLDT and Smart Communications Inc. president Napoleon Nazareno.
This time around, the PLDT Group’s partnership with TV5 includes the participation of its mobile phone subsidiary Sun Cellular, which it acquired last year.
Espinosa stressed that a reliable communications partner is essential not only in gathering news from various parts of the country during the elections but also to engage the interest and participation of the voting public.
“We will take out-of-the-box approaches in next year’s election coverage to not only deliver to our viewers the news as they happen but also to involve the people in this important democratic exercise,” the TV5 CEO said.
More than 18,000 positions are to be filled in the 2013 mid-term elections including 12 senators, 229 district representatives, 80 provincial governors, and 138 city mayors.
