Air Asia to launch flights between Clark, Taipei
CLARK FREEPORT, Pampanga, Philippines – Low-cost carrier AirAsia announced here yesterday its first regular flights between Clark and Taipei in time for the Christmas season on Dec. 16, particularly for some 100,000 Filipinos employed in Taiwan.
“The Clark-Taipei flights will offer a low fare of only P888,” AirAsia spokesperson Jenny Bugarin said.
“The Clark- Taipei promo fare will be available for booking on AirAsia’s website www.airasia.com from Nov. 5 to 11 for flights anytime from Dec. 16 this year to Sept. 30 next year,” Bugarin said.
She noted that flights could be booked via AirAsia’s “new and improved mobile apps available for download on iPhones and android phones or at mobile.airasia.com for WAP enabled phones.”
“AirAsia brings awesome connectivity between the Philippines and Taiwan by offering safe, reliable service at affordable fares especially for our 100,000 Filipino workers there,” said Freddy Herrera, AirAia commercial department head.
Herrera noted that “Taiwan is the country’s fifth largest source of tourism with over 155,000 of them visiting the Philippines as of October this year,” adding that “with our newest Clark-Taipei route, we also hope to draw this market to spectacular tourist attractions in Central and Northern Luzon.”
Bugarin said that “starting Dec. 16, AirAsia will service the new route with brand new Airbus A320s operated by well-trained and experienced flight and cabin crew every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday with flights departing at 12:05 p.m. and arriving Taiwan’s Taoyuan International Airport at 2 p.m.”
She noted that Taipei has been described in NY Times as “one of the most underrated tourist destinations in Asia.” It is one of Taiwan’s largest cities that offers great street foods, vibrant night markets, museums, scenic landscapes, parks and samples of modern architectural wonders, she added.
AirAsia Inc. was registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission in March last year to engage primarily in the business of air transportation in the Philippines and abroad for passenger and cargo. AirAsia Inc. is a 60 to 40 joint venture between Filipino investors Antonio Cojuangco, Michael Romero and Marianne “Maan” Hontiveros, and Malaysia’s AirAsia International Ltd., a wholly-owned subsidiary of AirAsia Berhad, which has won SkyTrax’s best low cost airline award for four consecutive years.
