MANILA, Philippines - President Aquino has reappointed the father of singer Ogie Alcasid as president and chief executive officer of the Development and Management Corp. of state-owned Philippine National Oil Co.
Herminio Alcasid Sr., a 78-years-old lawyer, has held the position since December 2010. He also remains in the PNOC board of directors. His celebrity son is a supporter of Aquino since the May 2010 campaign period.
The younger Alcasid, who is married to singer Regine Velasquez, is also a friend of Aquino’s youngest sister Kris. President Aquino attended the Alcasid-Velasquez wedding in December 2010.
Other appointees in Alcasid’s department were Ma. Gladys Sta. Rita, Maria Carmina Cruz, Rizalina Lumbera and Ebert Bautista. Their appointments have been forwarded to Energy Secretary Jose Rene Almendras who presides over PNOC.
Other members of the PNOC board are Antonio Cailao, Dante Canlas, Bob Gothong, former senator Victor Ziga, Potenciano Larrazabal Jr., Pedro Aquino Jr. (vice former NEDA chief Felipe Medalla) and John Jimenez Arenas (vice Federico Pascual).
