PHLPost issues Metrobank stamps
MANILA, Philippines – The Philippine Postal Corp. (PHLPost) has released the four designs of commemorative stamps marking the 50th anniversary of the Metropolitan Bank & Trust Co. (Metrobank).
Metrobank officials, led by chairman Dr. George S.K. Ty, graced the ceremonial signing and turnover of the first cover of the Metrobank stamp at the PHLPost main office in Lawton, Manila.
The PHLPost produced 140,000 pieces, with each stamp measuring 30 millimeters x 40 millimeters. The public can avail of the stamp at P7 each.
The four designs featured the four landmark buildings of Metrobank specifically their Binondo branch, 1962; the Metrobank Plaza, 1977; GT International Tower, 2004; and the Metrobank Plaza, Shanghai, China.
The stamp collection shows the bank’s history from the first branch it opened in Binondo until it has began operations in other parts of the world.
It was in Sept. 5, 1962 when Metrobank inaugurated its first office in Wellington Building in Plaza Calderon, Binondo, Manila City. Fifteen years later, it inaugurated its head office a 20-story building called the Metrobank Plaza in Makati City.
The GT International Tower is a testament of the company’s confidence in the future. It towers at a height of 217 meters and currently regarded as the third tallest building in the country.
