- The Philippine Star

Manila, Philippines -  Lopez-owned Bayan Telecommunications has forayed into cloud computing with the launch of its CloudSecure service.

At a technology roadshow event held for customers in Pasig City, Bayan Business, the company’s corporate solutions arm, has joined forces with DataOne Asia (Philippines), the leading independent provider of managed technology services to enterprises, to offer cloud computing service to the local enterprise market.

DataOne, started in 2002 by the Keppel Group of Singapore, has been offering data center outsourcing, managed infrastructure, operations management, computing services including hosting, and managing customers’ applications, among others. Its core business is built upon its high end Tier 3 data center located at the IBM Plaza Building in Quezon City.

Bayan chief operating officer Rafael Aguado said with this partnership, the company is taking another bold step in its continuous mission to provide customers with effective, relevant and affordable business solutions.

“We have chosen to partner with DataOne, for the rollout of our cloud services because of our shared mission to deliver to our customers and clients the best enterprise cloud services solution there is today,” Aguado said.

Regarded as the next big business trend, cloud computing provides centralized maintenance and regulation for various programs and applications needed by enterprises.

Bayan vice president and overall sales head Aniceto Franco III said by virtue of the agreement, Bayan and DataOne will now be offering the most complete cloud computing service in the market, and will be making these available not just for large-scale enterprises, but also for small to medium scale businesses who are in need of efficient work systems and increased productivity.

For his part, DataOne Asia president and CEO Cyril Rocke said DataOne has partnered for several years with Bayan to bring technological innovations to the Philippiness and is glad to partner once again with the company in introducing CloudSecure.

“Philippine enterprises will definitely find CloudSecure as the most dependable, secure and most comprehensive service with the richest portfolio of solutions and applications on the cloud. I am confident that this combination of a strong network with technological expertise will prove to be beneficial to our enterprises and SME customers,” Rocke added.

While some local players have actually forayed in the cloud computing as early as 2010, none of these companies has established a firm dominance of the market due to lack of a complete range of cloud offerings, officials noted.

With Bayan’s CloudSecure offering, companies can now avail of a full portfolio of cloud services thacan be availed by a start-up business or an expanding enterprise, they added.

Cloud computing is booming in the country since most local firms are now switching to cloud-based services because of its benefits: easy to implement and roll out, easy to scale or downscale, and cheap to subscribe and maintain.

Aside from being highly secured, more affordable and reliable, CloudSecure has an efficient IT support which will assist customers from system set-up implementation, going live, and management with its 24/7 tech support. – Mary Ann Reyes

DataOne built its CloudSecure computing platform with Cisco data center and Virtualization solutions, and has partnered with the leading IT infrastructure vendors in its design to support long-term and mission critical requirements of the most demanding and security-conscious business.
