Manila Water gets good rating

-

MANILA, Philippines - Customers from 338 barangays in the East Zone concession area gave Manila Water 100 percent “very good” rating for service, water, and network quality.

This was the result of the latest Pubic Assessment of Water Services (PAWS) conducted by the University of the Philippines-National Engineering Center for the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System Regulatory Office (MWSS-RO).

The PAWS survey, conducted annually, has been instituted to study Metro Manila barangays plus other qualified barangays in the provinces of Cavite and Rizal with regards to consumers’ satisfaction with their respective water services. In 2010, PAWS surveyed a total of 1,502 barangays in both the East and West Zone concession areas. Results of the 2011 assessment were presented during the recent series of public consultations held by MWSS-RO.

“Through PAWS, we are able to determine the level of performance of both Manila Water and Maynilad. This is also a very good avenue to obtain feedback and inputs from the customers on the quality of water service by both concessionaires,“ MWSS chief regulator Manuel Quizon says. “All data are then used by MWSS-RO to guide us in balancing the interests of the two concessionaires and that of the public,“ adds Quizon.

Manila Water has consistently obtained the highest rating with PAWS since 2009. The barangays surveyed included those from Mandaluyong, Marikina, Pasig, Pateros, San Juan, Taguig, Makati and parts of Quezon City and Manila as well as several towns in the province of Rizal.
