DTI starts discount caravan for school supplies

-

MANILA, Philippines - The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) will kick off the Diskwento Caravan-Balik Eskwela Edition to give the public access to cheaper school supplies, bags, uniforms and shoes, among others.

The two-day caravan will open tomorrow at the parking lot of the DTI main office along Gil Puyat Ave. in Makati City.

Small manufacturers will give discounts on school supplies, uniforms, bags and shoes. Also among the discounted products are basic commodities such as bread, sardines, cooking oils, processed meat, detergent bars and school supplies.

In a related development, the DTI’s Bureau of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise Development (BMSMED) will hold free entrepreneurship briefing sessions every Tuesday at the BMSMED Training Room in the DTI building from 1:30 to 4 p.m.

These seminars aim to support Filipinos who are planning to start or are already managing their own businesses by providing them knowledge and skills to respond to the needs of their business operations.

Resource persons from government agencies such as the Food and Nutrition Research Institute (FNRI), University of the Philippines Institute for Small Scale Industries (UPISSI) and Product Development and Design Center of the Philippines (PDDCP) will lecture during the seminars.
