Honda recalls 2002-2004 CR-Vs for faulty wiring

- Louella Desiderio -

MANILA, Philippines - Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. (HCPI) is recalling more than 20,000 units of CR-V to replace a faulty part of the headlights switch.

Xavier Eyadan, marketing department head at HCPI said in a briefing yesterday the recall would involve the replacement of the low beam connecting wire of the vehicle’s switch for headlights.

“The voluntary safety recall is for 20,587 units of CR-V models 2002 and 2004,” he said.

He said the insufficient length of the wire connected to the headlight switch has caused the low beam of the headlight to malfunction.

The wire, he said, is being stretched during operation and as a result, generates heat which melts the wire connecting coupler and causes the malfunction of the low beam.

He said no accidents or injuries have been reported but that the firm is announcing the recall to ensure its customers’ safety.

The replacement of the wire, he said, would be undertaken in 28 authorized dealers and three service centers nationwide free of charge.

The replacement, he said, would only take 40 minutes.

He said the firm would be sending letters of notice to concerned CR-V owners starting April 2 and the replacement of the wires would start on April 4.

Concerned CR-V owners can get in touch with their respective dealers for service appointment.

Alternately, they may also call the HCPI’s hotline at 1-800-1000-HONDA or 8577240 or send an email at [email protected].

Last year, HCPI recalled over 24,000 units of Jazz, Citys and CR-Vs for the replacement of power window master switch assembly.
