Sun Life fires up New Year with Dragon Warrior

MANILA, Philippines - Sun Life Financial Philippines welcomed the year of the Water Dragon with festivities in Binondo and the Bonifacio Global City with its theme “Fierce and Fired Up in 2012.”

Starting at 9am in Binondo, the day’s celebration kicked off with a motorcade and a dragon dance performance by Sun Life’s longest dragon measuring 1,000 ft., leading multitudes from the Manila City Hall to Jones Bridge and ending in Plaza Lorenzo. Now on its sixth year, the presence of the dragon has always awed crowds of all ages, bringing its vibrance to attract more wealth and good luck to everyone.

The revelry continues at the Sun Life Centre’s newest home at the Bonifacio Global City with a motorcade joined by financial advisors and employees. No less than Sun Life Philippines president and CEO Riza Mantaring was on hand to formally welcome all employees, advisors and guests. Mantaring will also led the Sun Life team to welcome the year with renewed enthusiasm and passion to march on towards industry leadership.

Adding excitement to the festivities was the special participation of the Philippine Dragon Boat Federation – Dragon Warriors who will be joining the dragon float as it makes the rounds from Binondo to BGC.

“We have invited the World - Champion Philippine Dragon Boat Federation - Dragon Warriors because we feel they truly epitomize the fierceness and the dynamism of the dragon and they embody the winning attitude of each and every Sun Lifer. In that sense, they are perfect symbols of the kind of positive energy we want this year to bring,” says chief marketing officer Mylene Lopa.

To complete the ritual of inviting luck and prosperity, everyone was enjoined to rattle the Sun Life Chinese rattle drums. “This is the sound of victory that will reverberate our desire to be stronger, to achieve more, and to aggressively explore the vast opportunities that await us in this year of the Dragon. Let us be fierce and fired up like the Dragon and let us claim the good fortune and prosperity in store for us,” says Lopa.

Another highlight of the event was a program entitled The FUng Show which was hosted by famous TV host Mr. Fu. The show provided entertainment from Drum Beaters, Zip & Poi Dancers and a Feng Shui master, who will also share his predictions on love, health, family and finances for 2012.

“The new year holds so much promise and Sun Life will welcome it with more passion as we reach more customers and help them achieve their financial goals,” says Lopa.
