Housing sector bullish for 2012

-

MANILA, Philippines - The leadership of the Subdivision and Housing Developers Association (SHDA) recently expressed confidence that efforts to address the country’s housing backlog will gain even more support as early as the first quarter of 2012.

This was the vision resonated by SHDA’s newly-elected officers as they shared in the call of Vice President and Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council (HUDCC) chairman Jejomar Binay for more collaborations between the public and private sectors that will facilitate the delivery of more sustainable housing and urban developments to address the bottlenecks in the housing sector.

“The housing sector is indeed one and in need of firm support from private institutions,” said Paul Tanchi of Basic Housing Solutions Inc. who has been named as SHDA’s newly-elected president during a recent gathering. “We cannot agree more with the fact that huge investments in the housing sector will not only help ease up the country’s 3.7 million housing backlog, but also generate more jobs for more Filipinos and drive more income for both private and public institutions.”

Tanchi will head the country’s premier organization of real estate developers — composed by both big and small players — and will have the support of a formidable cast, led by former SHDA president Manuel Crisostomo of Firm Builders Realty Devt. Corp., who will retain his position as chairman of the board.

Others who will also be assuming new positions within the organization are: Christopher Narciso of Robinsons Land Corp. (1st vice president) George Siy of Convergence Realty Development Corp. (2nd vice president); Armenia Ballesteros of SM Development Corp. (corporate secretary); Rosie Wang of Citihomes Builder & Devt. Inc. (auditor); Epifanio Santillan of PA Metro Residence Builders Inc. (treasurer); and Rene Ledesma Jr. of LEDESCO Devt. Corp. (public relations officer).

“Together with the government’s housing institutions, led by Pag-IBIG and the Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council (HUDCC), we are bent on making significant improvements within the housing sector — from the processes to the actual delivery of units to our patrons,” Tanchi said. “SHDA continues to be committed in strengthening the alliance among our members and other sectors as well to champion our cause of providing decent homes to every Filipino,” he added.
