ATR KimEng Capital named best equity house in Phl

MANILA, Philippines - ATR KimEng Capital Partners, Inc. (now known as Maybank ATR Kim Eng Capital Partners, Inc., “Maybank ATRKE Capital”) was recently awarded as “Best Equity House” in the Philippines by The Asset Publishing and Research Ltd. in its Triple A Asian Awards 2011. The annual Triple A recognition represents the industry’s most prestigious awards for banking, finance, treasury and the capital markets.

Full-service investment bank Maybank ATRKE Capital was cited for its role in numerous domestic and international equity transactions – among them the P23-billion initial public offering (IPO) of Cebu Pacific Air in October last year. Maybank ATRKE Capital also served as joint domestic lead underwriter on the P5 billion IPO of Nickel Asia a month later.

Maybank ATRKE Capital acted as joint bookrunner as well on the domestic equity portion of San Miguel Corp.’s $880-million fund raising in April this year. This after a successful $346-million offering of preferred shares for San Miguel Pure Foods in February, a deal on which the firm acted as financial adviser to the issuer.

According to The Asset, equity deals may have been sparse in the Philippine market compared with the rest of the region, but Maybank ATR Kim Eng managed to corner several of the transactions in recognition of the strength of its franchise.

The Asset takes a rigorous approach to the selection of best financial institutions in each country. On top of the various quantitative and qualitative factors as well as in-depth interviews, it makes use of the triple A scoring quotient (TASQ) in determining the winners of each award. 

TASQ, a ranking system developed by The Asset over 12 years, takes into consideration the number and type of deals, size and significance of these deals, the impact on capital markets, and quality of execution among others.

(now, Maybank ATR Kim Eng Securities, Inc.) was chosen as the country’s “Best Broker.”
