Alliance Select unit starts exports

- Marianne V. Go -

MANILA, Philippines - Big Glory Bay Salmon and Seafood Co. (BGB), a subsidiary of publicly-listed Alliance Select Foods International Inc., has started exporting its production.

In a disclosure yesterday to the Philippine Stock Exchange, ASFI said its subsidiary’s first shipment was an order for cold salmon slices to a leading supermarket in Hong Kong.

BGB, which is based in General Santos City, has also started shipping smoked salmon to one of the largest seafood importers in Japan.

Last week, ASFI said BGB shipped retail sized packs to one of the largest supermarket chains in Singapore.

ASFI corporate information officer Rajat Balain said the company’s smoked salmon products would also be available locally.

Balain added: “We expect orders to pick up significantly in the next few months as the firm’s marketing outreach program gains momentum and contribute significantly to ASFI’s growth and profitability.”

ASFI processes cans, and exports tuna, contributing almost 84.2 percent to its consolidated revenues in 2010.
