Negosyo madness

GO NEGOSYO - Joey Concepcion -

It’s definitely a Negosyo month. This month, three big entrepreneurial events are happening at almost the same time, as entrepreneurship (or negosyo) is now drawing more attention than ever. This advocacy which Go Negosyo started six years ago is now shared by so many, to help would-be and existing entrepreneurs in starting and growing a negosyo, and to succeed in it.

In my last column, I mentioned the biggest franchising event of the year organized by the PFA, Franchise Asia 2011, a four-day international event that starts on Sept. 22 and in which Go Negosyo is an event partner. I’ll be one of the speakers and we’ll also be supporting the event with our negosyo seminars on Sept. 24. What’s good about Franchise Asia 2011 is that it’s global in scale. It exposes Filipinos to more negosyo ideas, both here and abroad. Starting entrepreneurs can begin their business venture first with a franchise, which allows them to learn and study a proven and successful business formula developed by the franchisor.

Another big event is the One Town One Product (OTOP) National Expo of the DTI that will happen on Sept. 21 to 25 at the SM Mega Trade Hall. OTOP is a DTI project that helps develop and incubate small entrepreneurs in the countryside, as they focus on their respective town’s product winners. The OTOP Expo will showcase 273 SMEs, representing all the 16 regions and 72 provinces in the country. Admission is also free.

And then, of course, we have our 2011 Young Entrepreneurs Summit, the biggest entrepreneurship event for the youth which Go Negosyo holds once a year. This summit gives students, teachers and young people the chance to hear some of the country’s most inspiring speakers in the field of entrepreneurship and other industries. We’ve mentioned before that we’ve invited Honorable Exec. Sec. Paquito Ochoa and Former Defense Secretary Gibo Teodoro, and MVP Manny Pangilinan, inspiring and successful Filipinos, whom the youth can learn much from.

The Young Entrepreneurs Summit is a rare event that offers a powerful line-up of well-known and highly respected individuals to speak and inspire at our summit. Who wouldn’t know who Bro. Bo Sanchez is, the young “preacher in jeans” and lay evangelist who has touched and transformed thousands of lives with his caring mission in life, several advocacies, inspiring books and moving messages.

And how can you not be inspired by Roselle Ambubuyog, who did not let her blind eyesight stop her from achieving excellence? Though visually impaired, she outshined other normal students and graduated as summa cum laude at Ateneo. She probably knows more than anyone how staying positive amidst challenges and determination and passion can do you great wonders. Roselle is now world-class, working with different software and hardware companies in America and Europe.

Another man who needs no introduction is Mike Enriquez, whose unique personality and credible news reporting have made him one of the most respected TV and radio newscasters.

Josiah Go’s innovative and market-driving business strategies have earned him the reputation of being the country’s marketing guru. Trusted by executives and other professionals, Josiah trains and consults with the management of large and small companies, has taught in colleges, has provided hundreds of seminars and workshops, and has published 12 books on marketing. He is also a Go Negosyo entrepreneur and mentor and is Chairman Mansmith and Fielders Inc.and Day 8 Business Academy (for SMEs), among many others.

At a young age, Michael Angelo Lobrin has drawn the attention of many for his natural talent in public speaking and ability to be as inspirational as his co-preacher Bro. Bo Sanchez in a TV and radio show. Apart from speaking at events, Michael is also a professor of Philosophy and Theology.

Henry Tenedero is a Go Negosyo Angelpreneur who can surely amuse a young audience. Not only a great motivational speaker, he also is one of the funniest and wittiest in providing insightful talks and seminars. Henry heads the Center for Learning and Teaching Styles Philippinesand MINDful Ideas and advocates for educational reform by espousing international learning styles.

Other speakers at the plenary are CHED head Patricia Licuanan, Dylan Wilk, Injap Sia, Tennyson Chen, Bam Aquino, Illac Diaz, Cristalle Henares, Kenneth Cobonpue, and RJ David. The summit also provides simultaneous seminars you can choose from to suit your preferences and future negosyo plans. Learn about Online Selling with Multiply.com, Setting Up a Spa with Cathy Turvill of Nurture Spa, Tattooing with Ricky Sta. Ana of Skinworkz, Blogging with Anton Diaz, Graphic Designing with Lester Lagos of Urban Frog, Culinary Arts with Chef Hasset Go of Setting Up a Hobby Shop with Edmund Mangaser of All Terra (Bikes), and so many more.

The Young Entrepreneurs Summit is designed not only to be very inspirational and educational, but also fun for the youth, so it’s not like the usual formal and serious educational summits. You can learn and be inspired while also being entertained by dance and song numbers, a raffle and the surely dynamic hosting of Love Añover, RJ Ledesma, and Chal Lontoc. Meet celebrities or even win a date with Phil Younghusband, thanks to our sponsor Vitpower. We’ve also invited Gab Valenciano and Sam Concepcion.

Tour the booths of about 300 exhibitors, each presenting unique products, services, and business ideas. We’ve also prepared a students’ bazaar as we try to cultivate the spirit of entrepreneurship in these enterprising high school and college students.

The Go Negosyo 2011 Young Entrepreneurs Summit is a rare event the youth surely wouldn’t want to miss as there is just no other summit quite like this. They’ll come out inspired, informed and empowered.
