- Artemio Dumlao -

BAGUIO CITY, Philippines – At least 5,000 more new employees for Convergys Corp., a BPO firm locator here, are being hired for its new contact centers in Cebu and in this city.

The company’s 15th site in Baguio at Camp John Hay will formally open on July 27 signaling hope for many in need of a job with a majority of its workforce handling voice services.

Andrea Ayers, president and chief operations officer, said the company has 25,000 employees. “We’re hiring every day,” she added.

Ayers said, “we have the potential to grow at 25 percent a year. This would create 1.3 million direct jobs, 3.2 million indirect jobs and $25 billion in export revenues. The demand is there; it is up to us to ensure we provide the supply.”

Convergy’s fourth site in Cebu is in Asiatown IT Park at TGU Tower.

Once the Convergys site is operational, the company will operate 15 facilities throughout the country – eight in Metro Manila, four in Cebu City, and one each in Bacolod City, Santa Rosa, Laguna, and Baguio City. Another new site will open in the Visayas or Mindanao within the year.

Camp John Hay Development Corp. (CJHDevCo) is looking forward to a better year now with Ayala Land Inc. (ALI) development in full swing.

A techno hub in the camp is set to house call centers like led by top business outsourcing company, Convergys Corp. opening ground.

Convergys is a global leader in relationship management and is now the largest private employer in the Philippines.

Convergys employees in the Philippines receive hundreds of thousands of customer service calls every day on behalf of global clients representing a wide variety of industries, including financial services, telecommunications, retail, e-commerce, direct response, and health care.
