Suzuki Phils unveils new Canlubang plant
MANILA, Philippines - Suzuki Philippines Inc. (SPH) upped the ante once again, seeking to conquer the motorcycle industry as it unveiled the newest addition to the brand: the Suzuki Philippines motorcycle manufacturing plant.
Hundreds of guests trooped to the Mills Country Club in Carmeltown at the Carmelray Industrial Park in Canlubang, Laguna to witness the groundbreaking ceremony. It was led by the chairman of Suzuki Motor Corp. himself, Osamu Suzuki, who flew in from Japan especially to oversee the event. He was at the forefront alongside Suzuki Philippines president Satoshi Uchida, as well as executives and representatives from the brand. Members of the government were also in attendance, with Trade and Industry Secretary Gregory Domingo, Undersecretary Cristino Panlilio, Calamba City Administrator Manuel Ladrido and Japan Ambassador to the Philippines, Toshinao Urabe.
As the only integrated motorcycle and automobile company in the Philippines, SPH envisions the new plant to accommodate rapidly rising sales demand.
“Suzuki has always remained at the forefront of the industry, but in recent years, our current plant could no longer keep up with the rising demands of the consumers,” said SPH president Satoshi Uchida. “We reached the decision to build a new plant that can accommodate all our plans, and ensure that our products remain value-packed yet innovative and original.”
The current plant had reached the maximum capacity of 8,000 units per month, prompting Suzuki Philippines to create a new plant. And while the new manufacturing plant was invested with more than P1 billion each peso would be regained since the demand for motorcycles is sure to increase even more in the years to come.
With the motorcycle industry growing at a robust rate, more and more consumers have sought to own a motorcycle, with the vehicle becoming a widely accepted means of transportation in the country. Through the years, SPH has proven its mettle against other brands, resulting in more Filipinos putting their trust in Suzuki when it came to buying their motorcycles.
Plans for a new plant also came about in accordance to SPH’s goal of “Double Up in 2011.” Conceived in 2009, SPH pushed to increase sales volume by double at the end of the year 2011 for both the motorcycle and automobile sectors. And with the growing demand for motorcycles, SPH expressed confidence that their goals will be achieved outstandingly.
The rising of the new plant spells good tidings for Suzuki Philippines, but the brand assures that it will mostly benefit the Filipino people.
