MANILA, Philippines - The first Pamilyang Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs)-Micro, Small and Medium Entrepreneurs (MSMEs) Theme Park was launched during the Handog kay P-Noy Jobs and Livelihood Expo 2011 (Part 1) and the 6th Pamilyang OFWs-MSMEs Summer Expo which was held recently at the Philippine Trade Training Center in Pasay City. Organized by the Pamilyang OFW-SME Network Foundation Inc. (Pamilyang OFWs), the two-day event was a one-stop-shop for jobs, livelihood, investment and business opportunities which aims to transform a majority of OFW families into community entrepreneurs and help solve the OFW reintegration problem. Established in 2002, the Pamilyang OFWs is regularly holding quarterly expositions which are also aimed at empowering the OFW and MSME families through information, opportunities and benefits. The 1.5-hectare theme park, which is located in Barangay Maligaya, Gloria, Oriental Mindoro, is being operated by the Pamilyang OFWs. Inside the park is the 245-square meter Pamilyang OFWs-MSMEs Opportunities Center Building where a spiritual, feeding and livelihood program as well as free seminars and trainings are conducted regularly.Pamilyang OFWs president George Arban Arriola said the construction of the man-made Mindoro lagoon (with birds quarters), butterflies sanctuary, nipa huts named after the province’s only city (Calapan) and 14 municipalities, and swimming pool is in full blast and is expected to be finished before the end of June this year.
