Samsung assumes lead in local compact digital still camera mart

MANILA, Philippines -  Samsung, the world’s leader in technology innovation is now the leader in the digital still camera (DSC) market of the Philippines with its compact cameras.

In a retail audit by the international and independent GfK Research Group, data gathered from retailers and re-sellers have shown Samsung as the new leader in the compact cameras with fixed lens category of the DSC market in the last two months of 2010.

In the said category which comprises 91.3 percent of the DSC market, Samsung has become the top-selling brand in terms of unit sales with 21.7 market share in November, and 22.7 percent in December 2010.

The success of Samsung compact digital cameras is attributed to the company’s strengthened sales channels and its growing number of competitive products in the market.

Among the Samsung products in the top hit list of compact cameras are the Samsung ES65, ES70 and the flagship model for Samsung 2View cameras, PL101.

The ES series is Samsung’s array of entry-level compact digital cameras which offer consumers an impressive range of advanced features at an affordable price. Also among the Samsung products in the top hit list is the Samsung 2View PL101. 2View is Samsung’s breakthrough contribution in technology, the first of its kind in the realm of compact digital cameras. It offers a front LCD which allows consumers to take self-portraits with ease.
