Cherry Mobile launches 3 new smart phone models
MANILA, Philippines - Cherry Mobile is looking to further penetrate the growing market for high-end phones as it launched recently three new smartphone models.
“We started small, launching four models last year, but we dreamt big. We have elevated from providing affordable dual SIM handsets, to providing high-end phones with our Red Label Collection,” Cherry Mobile chief executive Maynard Ngu said.
Cherry Mobile introduced three new Android smartphone models, namely the Novam, Magnum HD and Superion — the first tablet phone in the country.
“We saw the need for entering to the smartphone line-ups and offering affordable phones with the right features,” Cherry Mobile sales head Lonson Alejandrino said.
He noted that the firm only wants to make smartphones and tablet phones available to the Filipino market at affordable rates. “The price of other smart phone brands are far from ours and ours are lower by around P10,000,” Alejandrino added.
According to him, manufacturing is done in Taiwan and China while research and development is done partly in the Philippines.
Alejandrino also assured that Cherry Mobile smartphones and other units are durable and that customer service are available nationwide.
The Android operating system is powered by global phone solutions provider Qualcomm, which also provides operating system to other phone brands.
He also said the mobile phone brand is already in third spot in terms of volume and claims to be at the top spot in the dual SIM phone segment.
Cherry Mobile was introduced to the Filipino market in May last year with only four mobile phone models that are all priced below P7,000. The brand is targeted to cater to the mass market.
