Globe Business powers planning meet for World Electronics Forum

MANILA, Philippines - Globe Business, in partnership with the Semiconductor and Electronics Industries in the Philippines, Inc. (SEIPI), recently supported the Interim Meeting for the 16th World Electronics Forum (WEF), the biggest gathering of CEOs and directors from various electronics and semiconductors industry associations worldwide. The annual conference is set to take place on Jan. 8 to 10, 2011 in Nevada, USA.

Globe Business hosted a fellowship dinner for the delegates and participants during the Interim Meeting. Among the notable guests that evening were Ernie Santiago, president of SEIPI; Prof. K.B. Chan, Hong Kong Electronics Industry Association board member; and Gary Shapiro, president of the Consumer Electronics Association. Guests were treated to Ballet Philippines’ rendition of “To Whom It May Concern” – a work dedicated to Filipino artists in the midst of globalization, and a repertoire of Filipino classic and pop music by the Philippine Philharmonic and Bituin Escalante.

The 16th WEF will discuss trends in the global electronics industry and the consumer electronics market, and how market players can adjust to the changing industry landscape. Globe Business works closely with some of the world’s largest electronics and semiconductor manufacturing firms to provide them with customized ICT solutions, which are backed by the large and diverse domestic and international backbone networks of Globe Telecom.

Globe continues to invest its network infrastructure to support the semiconductor and electronics industry. This year alone, Globe allocated about $500 million in capital expenditure to expand its domestic data and mobile infrastructure. The company has also invested in the $400 million Southeast Asia Japan Cable System (SJC) and the $300 million UNITY cable system, to improve its network reach and provide redundancy.
