MANILA, Philippines - The IP Coalition has given its seal of recognition to eight Manila-based business establishments for their commitment to adopt and implement a policy of intellectual integrity, which entails not only respect for and recognition of their rights to their own intellectual creations, but also the rights of others and to deal only with products and services which do not infringe upon intellectual property rights.
“We are very happy that we are finally launching the IP Seal here in Manila. Like our Cebu IP Icons, our Manila IP Icons exemplify in their respective fields the essential values that the IP Seal seeks to convey. We are proud to offer them to the public as sterling examples of best business practices. In a knowledge-based economy, intellectual property creation offers the greatest opportunities for economic growth and sustainability. Our IP Icons will blaze the trail for others to follow, “IP Coalition chairman John Lesaca said.
The IP Coalition is a non-stock, non-profit corporation that aims, through focused advocacy, education and enforcement monitoring programs, to serve as the primary policy caucus of industry organizations and stakeholder associations that promote the protection and advancement of intellectual property rights in the Philippines.
The IP Seal implements one of the IP Coalition’s core visions which is to cultivate public awareness of and respect for intellectual property rights.
To achieve this, the IP Coalition partners with businesses, which, as a matter of policy and practice, observe such standards consistent with IP promotion and protection, and projects them to the world as IP Icons, or as models of best business practices.
The badge of the IP Icons is the IP Seal. The IP Seal conveys the message that the products and services offered by IP Icons are assured of quality, safety, excellence and legitimacy of source or origin.
Among those recognized are Smart Communications, Microsoft Philippines, Levi Strauss Philippines, IT product distributor Adi-Asianic, leading plastic furniture manufacturer COFTA Mouldings Corp., intelligence company Orion Support, PR company Perceptions Inc. and law firm Quisumbing Torres.
Earlier, the IP Coalition named seven Cebu-based IP Icons and awarded them the IP Seal, in addition to Campaigns Cebu and Ayala Center Cebu. They are Alcon Industries Inc., Dash Engineering Philippines Inc., Golden Peak Hotel and Business Suites, Jojo’s Food Products Inc., My Rock Export - Import Inc., Nature’s Legacy and Papicture Studio.
