Robinsons Homes acquires 29.6-hectare Gen Santos property

- Zinnia B. Dela Peña -

MANILA, Philippines – Robinsons Homes Inc. (RHomes), the housing unit of Gokongwei-owned Robinsons Land Corp., has further beefed up its landbank with the purchase of a 29.6-hectare property in Gen. Santos City as part of efforts to expand its reach in Mindanao.

In a disclosure to the Philippine Stock Exchange, Homes said the property was acquired from Integrated Credit & Corporate Services (ICCS) and Star Two (SPV-AMC) Inc. which specializes in the acquisition, management and disposition of personal and real properties.

The property is just a 25-minute drive from Gen. Santos International Airport and within two to five kilometers from Notre Dame of Dadiangas University, Mindanao State University, Elizabeth General Hospital, Robinsons Mall and Makar Wharf.

While development plans for the property are still on the drawing board, RHomes general manager Joan R. Cosico said they intend to develop it as their pioneer project in Gen. Santos City.

“We will position this project as the premiere housing development in Gen. Santos City,” said Cosico, adding that “we believe that GenSan is a growth market as evidenced by our investment in Robinsons Mall.”

“We are encouraged by the support of the local market and feel that we can continue to make lives better for GenSan residents by providing a well-master planned housing development with modern amenities,” Cosico added.

RHomes has four projects in Mindanao: Robinsons Highlands in Davao City and Robinsons Hillsborough Pointe, Richmond Hills and Fresno Parkview, all in Cagayan de Oro.

Robinsons Land owns and operates GenSan’s first full- service mall with cinemas and al fresco dining. It has also invested heavily in both mall and housing developments in Cagayan de Oro and Davao.
