Shell, ECCP lead business sector in energy forum
MANILA, Philippines - Shell companies in the Philippines (SciP) joins the European Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines (ECCP) in leading the 1st Philippine Energy Efficiency Forum 2010, a one-day forum and exhibition to be held on July 14 at the Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila.
The event is designed to convene key decision makers and business leaders from the energy, commercial and industrial sectors and enlist top management commitment to implement energy efficiency programs at the enterprise level, including buildings and industrial parks. It also aims to build strategic alliances among business, government,
international donor organizations, environmental organizations and other public interest
groups in the Philippines and set a common climate action agenda in reducing carbon footprint through energy efficiency.
The theme of the 2010 forum is “Enhancing competitiveness through energy efficiency” and will highlight the following topics: Public-Private Perspective on Energy Efficiency, Energy Management Technologies and Opportunities, Financing Energy Initiatives and Energy Smart Program Launch.
Speaking at a recent press conference on the forum, SciP country chairman Edgar Chua discussed how Shell is working to meet increasing energy demand and supply challenges, while addressing the impact on the environment, through cleaner burning natural gas and advanced fuels and lubricants. He notes, however, that the simplest way is by changing our behavior towards the use of fuels and energy. Chua will be among the distinguished
speakers of the energy efficiency forum, and will talk of a ‘New Energy Future,’ one towards which the world is moving, and towards which Shell is contributing. He will map out Shell’s contribution in four key areas: Energy security, energy diversity, energy efficiency and Co2 management. In his presentation, he will focus on energy efficiency,
that is, using energy more efficiently as the simplest and most cost-effective way to reduce emissions and mitigate climate change. Through its participation in the 1st hilippine Energy Efficiency Forum, Shell enjoins consumers and businesses to use energy better, to do more with less, and make energy conservation a way of life.
