No plans to relocate any RP plant to Indonesia, says Nestle CEO

MANILA, Philippines - Nestlé Philippines Inc. said yesterday the company has no plans to relocate any of its factories in the Philippines to Indonesia.

The statement came on the heels of a Reuters news report from Jakarta, Indonesia that Nestlé will be relocating its factories in the Philippines and Malaysia to Indonesia to be closer to its raw material.

Nestlé has six factories in Malaysia including one making one of its key beverage brand Milo and four factories in the Philippines.

In an interview, Trade and Industry Secretary Jesli A. Lapus said that Nestlé chairman and chief executive officer John Miller visited him last week to inform him that the company is looking at expanding its operations in the country.

Nestlé said they continue to invest heavily in its manufacturing facilities in the Philippines by upgrading its machinery and expanding capacities to meet local and foreign demand for its products.

The company has four manufacturing facilities in the country:  the Cagayan de Oro Factory which manufactures Nescafe and is the Nestlé Group’s Asean Supply Center for filled milk powder; the Cabuyao factory which manufactures milk, nutrition, beverages, and food and is the Nestlé Group’s Asean supply center for infant nutrition products; the Lipa factory which manufactures Milo and is the Nestlé Group’s Asean supply center for breakfast cereals; and the recently commissioned Pulilan Factory, which manufactures Nestle ice cream and chilled products.
