Nissan unveils new X-Trail

MANILA, Philippines - Nissan Motor Philippines Inc. (NMPI) recently unveiled the new Nissan X-Trail CVT as demand for small sized sports utility vehicles (SUVs) continued to rise.

NMPI president Allen Chen said they plan on producing 200 units per month in their Sta. Rosa plant. Although the X-Trail is locally produced, 90 percent of the parts came from Japan. The introduction of the new X-Trail is expected to maintain the sales of X-Trail which is at 200 units per month.

 “Nissan Motor Philippines is one with the government in promoting the assembly of completely knocked down vehicles or CKDs as this will generate bigger employment to more Filipinos,” Chen said.

“The continuance of CKD production will likewise contribute to the development of parts and components manufacturing in the Philippines that will enhance competitive capacity within the ASEAN region,” Chen added.

The new X-Trail is priced between P1.35 million and P1.55 million.

The new X-Trail 2.5 liters feature the XCVT (Xtronic Continuous Variable Transmission) for a stress-free no shift shock for a comfortable driving even in tough terrains. The CVT aids in making the vehicle more fuel efficient but at the same time provides powerful sensation of acceleration.

For challenging terrain, the new X-Trail’s smart four wheel drive is an all mode 4x4 electronically controlled system that allows the new X-Trail to transmit only the necessary torque, preventing the transmission of excessive torque.
