Sutherland Global bares additional investments in RP

- Ma. Elisa Osorio  -

MANILA, Philippines - United States-based business process outsourcing firm Sutherland Global Services announced they will be investing heavily in the Philippines in the next three years as they intend to build two campuses in the Greater Manila Area (GMA).

In a teleconference, Sutherland chairman and chief executive Dilip Vellodi said they are in the process of developing two campuses each with a capacity of 8,000 employees.

New York-based Vellodi declined to say how much each campus would cost saying only that it would be a substantial investment. He said the move will grow their employee base. Currently Sutherland has over 10,000 employees in their six facilities in the Philippines.

Aside from the GMA expansion, Vellodi said they will be building a mini campus in Davao in the coming years.

At the same time, Vellodi said they will be growing their over 10,000 employee base by 20 to 25 percent this year. This is the same growth posted by the company for 2009. He said right now they are operating at nearly full capacity for all its centers in the Philippines.

“The growth has not slowed down. We don’t expect it to slow down,” Vellodi noted. The expansion in the Philippines has been fueled by continued growth in the company’s existing outsourcing  engagements as well as the addition of several new clients.

According to Vellodi they continue to invest in the Philippines because of the strong support given by the local government. The Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) has presented Sutherland with the Outstanding Employer Award.

Sutherland has two operations in Metro Manila and four in the provinces. They are at The Fort in Taguig, Makati, Clark in Pampanga, Tarlac, Camarines Sur and Davao.

Sutherland offers an integrated set of front and back office services that support the entire customer life cycle. Sutherland started in the United States in 1986 and now employs 24,000 professionals. Aside from the Philippines, they have delivery centers in the US, Canada, the United Kingdom, Mexico, India, Bulgaria and Nicaragua.
