MANILA, Philippines - With SEC’s mandatory requirement for corporations’ board of directors to practice good corporate governance comes the importance of having a functioning audit committee headed by a member of the board. With no school addressing the training for audit committees, the Center for Global Best Practices (CGBP) is launching a special, two-day seminar titled “Board Directors’ Guide for Audit Committees” on July 1 and 2 from 9 am to 5 pm at The Peninsula Manila Hotel, Makati City. The CPE-accredited program will feature top experts and practitioners. Rosario S. Bernaldo, CPA, MBA, is the founder and managing partner of law and accounting firms Bernaldo, Directo and Po Law Offices and R.S. Bernaldo & Associates, which comprise more than 120 accountants and lawyers. She is the president of the Corporate Governance Institute of the Philippines. The one-time event will also feature Lily Linsangan, CPA,CIA, CFE, CCSP, partner-in-charge and head of specialist advisory services division of Punongbayan and Araullo. She has over 25 years of experience in the audit of local and multinational companies in various industries. She headed P&A’s audit division until 2008. She was president of the Institute of Internal Auditors (2003) and its chairperson of the governance committee in 2008. She is the incumbent president of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners. The third speaker is Juan Carlos B. Robles, CPA, CIA,CFE, CISA, partner and head, Business Risk Managment Services of Punongbayan and Araullo. He has over 20 years of combined experience in public accounting, government auditing, internal audit, forensic audit, risk management, and business consulting.
