Smart unveils unlimited Internet packages

MANILA, Philippines - With more Filipinos discovering the convenience of mobile Internet, leading wireless services provider Smart Communications has unveiled several unlimited, flat-fee data packages for its postpaid subscribers.

“We have seen how our subscribers have rapidly taken the habit of using their handsets to browse the Web and do other online activities. What’s more interesting, this is not just among users that have the more advanced and more costly devices – across handset types and functionalities, Filipinos take quite naturally to mobile browsing,” Smart marketing group head Annie Naval said.

With UnliSurf 300, subscribers using any kind of Internet-capable handset may register for a week of unlimited browsing for only P300, while UnliSurf 1200 offers 30 days for P1,200.

Postpaid subscribers on Plan 1800 and higher may avail of UnliSurf 300 or UnliSurf 1200 through Smart’s mobile portal (m.smart.-com.ph/surf), or text Unli 300 or Unli 1200 to 211 to avail, and package cost will be billed on top of the monthly subscription fee. Subscribers on Plan 1200 may avail of only UnliSurf 300 through the same portal. All other subscribers on lower plans may prepay for any of the two packages at the nearest Smart wireless center.

For Smart Gold subscribers using BlackBerry handsets, Smart has partnered with Research In Motion (RIM) to offer flat-rate, unlimited data packages. With these packages, subscribers will have access to all the advanced features offered by BlackBerry smartphones, including push email, applications made for social networking sites such as Facebook, MySpace and Flickr, Web browsing and instant messaging services such as BlackBerry Messenger, Yahoo! Messenger, Windows Live Messenger and Google Talk.

Subscribers may text BB DAY to 2207 for the BlackBerry daily package, or P50 for 24 hours; BB WEEK for the BlackBerry weekly package, or P300 for seven days; BB MONTH for the BlackBerry monthly package, or P1,200 for 30 days. SMS registration to weekly and monthly packages is available to subscribers on Plans 1200 and higher only. Subscribers on lower plans may avail the service by going to the nearest Smart wireless center and prepaying the registration fee. This offer is available only to users of BlackBerry handsets with no previous subscription to a BlackBerry plan.

“Through these new offers from Smart Gold, we are giving our postpaid subscribers freedom and flexibility with a variety of mobile Internet packages that are all unlimited, at the least cost to them. This strengthens our “Internet for All” advocacy of bringing the benefits of the Internet more quickly to more people,” Naval added.
