MANILA, Philippines - The Department of Energy (DOE) is conducting an investment forum next week to encourage more investors to go into energy-related businesses, a DOE official said.
DOE assistant secretary Mario Marasigan said the forum will be held on Dec.3 at the Dusit Hotel
Though the DOE is promoting the use of renewable energy (RE) resources, he said there is a need to promote the use of other energy sources.
“Investment forum is a separate activity. We believe that we have so much resources to develop,” he said.
“Even if we have these (RE) applications, we continue to promote other energy sources. We call on additional investors,” he said.
Marasigan said the DOE is communicating with various foreign investors’ communities.
“We’re writing with foreign inventors. We’re trying to communicate with various government institutions like we’ve been working with governments Korean, Japanese, Chinese and European communities are coming here,” he said.
He said the DOE is also exploring the possibilities of tapping some countries to share their expertise in energy-related technologies.
“I talked to several technology providers and they are offering their technologies. They look at the Philippines as a prospective area for their technologies,” he said. — Donnabelle Gatdula
