Red Dragon Farms wins IBM's Business Reality Challenge
MANILA, Philippines - Red Dragon Farms (RDF) wins IBM’s Business Reality Challenge in the Philippines. IBM will provide the livestock company a suite of free hardware, software and consulting services worth $30,000 for the company’s expansion.
RDF is a homegrown medium scale company engaged in commercial livestock production that operates a feed mill, 12 poultry farms, two swine farms and 58 meat shops in Central Luzon.
IBM’s Business Reality Challenge is an ASEAN-wide contest that aims to assist small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) wanting to improve productivity while reducing operation costs through the efficient use of information technology (IT).
“RDF is currently challenged in creating a system that will incorporate financial, administrative, people and overall operations. We need a system that will integrate all of these for us to be more competitive and thus, more productive and make our customers satisfied. IBM is the realization of this goal,” said RDF president and general manager Dr. Robert Lo.
“The system will allow the company to attain 15 percent to 20 percent overall savings in operational costs,” Lo said.
Natalie Pia Azarcon, IBM Philippines country manager for ibm.com, said SMBs should look for ways to make their business smarter and that IBM is committed to help realize these goals.
“RDF’s first enterprise-level IT system will enable the company to work faster and smarter than its competitors. The system will allow them to get fast and accurate reports to improve management decision and have better systems management and controls for overall operational efficiency,” Azarcon said.
IBM’s Business Reality Challenge is part of the company’s commitment to help local SMBs and industry professionals work smarter and stay afloat amid the current economic downturn and prepare for new horizons with a smarter and more competitive market positioning.
