Business forum to gather project owners, funders, suppliers

MANILA, Philippines - The Powertech 2009 Business Forum (Sept. 9-10) and PowerTrends 2009 international exhibition (Sept. 9-11) will be held at the World Trade Center Metro Manila. The business forum and exhibit have gathered C-level speakers and presenters from government and private sectors responsible for various renewable clean and green energy policies and projects in the Philippines.

Attending the events are project proponents, international funders, corporate and private investors in clean technology, professional service providers (architects, engineers, lawyers, accountants, and consultants), technology systems and equipment suppliers, and packagers interested in creating strategic alliances.

Held every two years, the Powertech forum and PowerTrends exhibition are the supporting business events this year for the ministerial conference of the United Nations Industrial Development (UNIDO) on “Managing the Transition to Resource-Efficient and Low-Carbon Industries in Asia”.

Vice President Noli de Castro has been invited to open the exhibition, PowerTrends 2009. Energy Secretary Angelo T. Reyes is the keynote speaker of the forum.

Confirmed speakers and moderators are: Session 1 - Policy, Regulatory Issues and Incentives - Senate Majority Leader Juan Miguel Zubiri and Trade and Industry Undersecretary Elmer Hernandez, with Dr. Francisco Viray, Trans-Asia president and former energy secretary as moderator.

Session 2 - Economics and Challenges of Renewable and Clean Energy – chairman of Constellation Energy Jose P. Leviste, Jr.; corporate planning head of Energy Development Corp. Raymond Quiroz; Vergnet CEO Marc Vergnet, first vice president Luis Miguel Aboitiz of Aboitiz Power Renewables; chairman Bernard Trebol of Philippine Sugar Institute; president and CEO Walter Brown of National Grid Corp. of the Philippines, and National Power Corp. president Froilan Tampinco. Moderators for this session are Dr. Viray and Federico Puno, president and CEO of TeaM Energy Corp. and former NPC president.

Session 3 – Carbon Credits – IACEC Secretariat head Joyceline Goco, Josh Carmody from Asian Development Bank, Ben Cotton of Earth Capital Partners and Mila Jude of SEEDlinks Philippines Inc.

Session 4 - Energy Efficiency and Management - SVP Roberto Almazora of Manila Electric Co., architect Palafox, Jr., architect Amado de Jesus, chair of the ASEAN Energy Awards Committee, with Cyril del Callar, former NPC president and chairman of Del Callar & Partners, as moderator.

Session 5 - Financing of Energy and Energy-Related Projects - Sumio Ishikawa, chief representative of Japan Bank for International Cooperation, DBP senior VP Brillo Reynes and Guido Alfredo Delgado, former NPC president and president of GAA Delgado Inc.
