Philips expects 5% rise in LCD sales this year

- Ma. Elisa Osorio  -

MANILA, Philippines - Philips expects a four to five percent growth in LCD monitor sales this year as it appoints Glee Electronics as its distributor in the country.

“Our position in the market has been strong. The partnership with MMD (the exclusive manufacturer, marketer and seller of Philips monitors in the world) for Philips monitors will only strengthen our brand by being associated with a great quality product,” Jason Cheng, Glee president and CEO said.

Cheng said that there is still a demand for LCD monitors despite the global slowdown in consumer demand.

Cheng said they are targeting both consumers and businesses.

“The cost is reasonable not to mention that these monitors will pay for themselves in 10 years,” Cheng said.

Cheng explained that the new LCD monitors can help reduce power consumption because they are more energy efficient. “In less than three years you get back what you invested because your power cost will go down,” he noted.

For his part, Benjamin Wong, director general of MMD Singapore said that they are proud to be partnered with Glee because research have shown that consumers want a range of LCD monitors that are stylish, with high performance and great value.

“MMD aims to increase Philips LCD monitors’ market share by strengthening our distribution network and deepening our relationships with our current partners. We see a great potential for Philips LCD monitors in the Philippines,” Wong said.

“We found in Glee a strong reputable partner to succeed. Glee has extensive reach and network, as well as a strong track record and reputation in the sector,” he added.

Glee has a distribution network that covers 700 stores and outlets in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.
