Philippine-Russian Business Forum set in August

MANILA, Philippines - With the theme “New Ties. New Markets. New Ways” the Philippine-Russian Business Forum sets out to provide delegates with the latest information on the fundamental issues of doing business in the Philippines and in Russia.

A project of the Philippine-Russian Business Assembly, the principal conduit and networking body for Philippine and Russian business people, the event provides a firsthand guide to basic concerns when engaging in business in either country and also provides invaluable knowledge on the current business climate. Topics of discussion in the plenary sessions include: A General Overview of Philippine-Russian Business Relations, The Philippines as Gateway to ASEAN-Russian Cooperation, Doing Business in the Philippines (The Philippines’ Investment Promotions Plan 2009); and Doing Business in Russia. The open forum will feature panelists from the following sectors: Tourism, energy, mining, professional services/business process outsourcing, real estate and construction, import-export and accounting and finance.

The event will also feature prearranged one-on-one business meetings among interested parties in the abovementioned sectors. Delegates will be toured along the One Cebu Expo, a showcase of Cebu’s premiere services and products.

The driving force behind the Philippine-Russian Business Assembly and the Forum is Honorary Consul of the Russian Federation Armi Lopez Garcia. Her advocacy for tourism, trade and investment promotion has led her to represent the Philippines’ import-export sector for many years as an independent businesswoman. Now as a diplomatic official, she strives to further boost Philippine-Russian business cooperation by setting the necessary groundwork to streamline trade relations, encourage tourism, and foster an environment of dynamic cooperation.
