Search on for year's top finance officer

MANILA, Philippines - The search for the outstanding CFO of the Year 2009 is on.

The awarding of the outstanding CFO of the Year is an event that is expected to continue the tradition of recognizing the CFO’s excellence among outstanding financial services leaders in the Philippines. Previous winners were Delfin C. Gonzalez Jr. of Globe Telecom (2007) and Sherisa P. Nuesa of Manila Water Co., Inc. (2008).

Every year the extensive nationwide search for the country’s outstanding CFO culminates in an awarding ceremony attended by the Who’s Who in the financial community. The awarding ceremony is scheduled in November.

The CFO of the Year award is open to all CFOs of local or foreign-owned privately held or publicly listed companies operating in the Philippines and registered under the Philippine laws. Companies may be Philippine-owned or may be local subsidiaries of multinational corporations operating in the Philippines.

The search for the outstanding CFO of the Year is a result of a partnership between ING Bank Manila branch headed by Consuelo D. Garcia and Financial Executives Institute of the Philippines (FINEX).

Co-presenters are the FINEX Foundation, the International Association of Financial Executives Institute or IAFEI, and the CFA Society of the Philippines. Media partners are The Philippine Star, Philippine Daily Inquirer, Business World, and ANC.

The principal selection criteria are values of integrity, leadership, effective stewardship based on the highest standards of business and professional ethics, and specific instances of wealth creation in finance and financial services that are worthy of recognition.

Nomination forms may be downloaded at the FINEX Web site www.finex.org.ph. Deadline for submission to the FINEX secretariat (attention: Jeffrey Manalo) is the close of business on Oct. 8.
