Prices stable as weather improves - DA

MANILA, Philippines – Meat prices remain stable while costs of fish and vegetable products are starting to drop following an improvement in the overall weather condition, the Department of Agriculture’s market watch team reported over the weekend.

Based on a survey of prices taken last Friday from 15 bagsakan centers in Metro Manila, the price of beef and pork still ranged from P135 to P170 per kilo.

This price range was surveyed in the Viajero Market, Pasig Mega Market (formely Mutya ng Pasig), Muntinlupa Public Market, South Station, Kadiwa Center, New CI Market, Marikina Market Zone, Marikina Public Market, City Market of Antipolo, Commonwealth Market, Maypajo Market, Meycauayan Market, Mega-Q Mart, Rublou Market (Greenland), Rublou Market (Floodway), Oriental Market, Pritil Market, Bacoor Public Market and the  Carmona Public Market.

The cheapest price per kilo was registered at the Marikina Market Zone at Rublou Market(Greenland at Floodway).

Pork liempo is selling from P140 to P170/kilo, with the lowest price range offered at the Meycauayan  and Rublou Markets (Greenland at Floodway).

Fully dressed chicken retails from  P120 to P130 per kilo, with the lowest price surveyed at the Bacoor Public Market.

Meanwhile, the price of medium size egg ranges from P3.50 to P5 per piece.

Fish prices such as for medium size  bangus range from P90 to P125 per kilo. Prices for medium size tilapia ranged from P75 to P110 per kilo.

Prices for selected vegetables,  the survey showed, was from P35 to P60 per kilo for ampalaya or bitter gourd.

Scorpio cabbage sells from P25 to P40 per kilo, while carrots last week sold from P50 to P80 per kilo.

Tomatoes retailed from P35 to P50 per kilo while red onions were selling from P40 to P60 per kilo.

Eggplants were also selling from P30 to P50 per kilo.
