2009 Philippine Collegiate Championship games

After the completion of the provincial “mother leagues” and the regional championships, the next stage of the nationwide multi-level search for the best collegiate teams in the country is the qualifying zonal games. These competitions will determine the teams that will join the “Sweet 16” Finals of the 2009 Philippine Collegiate Championship games.

Luzon-Metro Manila Qualifying Zonal games

Nine teams will advance to the Luzon-Metro Manila qualifying zonal games, namely: the North/Central Luzon regional champion; the South Luzon-Bicol regional champion; the champion teams from the following Metro Manila leagues: National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCCA)-South, Colleges and Universities Sports Association (CUSA), Universities and Colleges Athletic Association (UCAA), National Capital Region Athletic Association (NCRAA), and United Central Luzon Athletic Association (UCLAAI); and the sixth placers in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) and National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA).

The top three teams will qualify to the “Sweet 16” Finals. The games are scheduled to be held starting November 6 at either Lucena City or Naga City. 

VisMin-Metro Manila Qualifying Zonal games

The eight teams that will advance to this stage are: the Visayas (excluding Cebu) regional champion; the Mindanao regional champion; the National Athletics Association of Schools Colleges and Universities (NAASCU) champion; three Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (CESAFI) teams (no. 2, no. 3 and no. 4) and the fifth placers of UAAP and NCAA.

The top four teams will qualify to the “Sweet 16” Finals. The games will be held on November 9 at Cebu City.
